Once a Miltary Lodge American Union Lodge was constituted at Waterman's Travern, Roxbury, Massachusetts, on February 20th, 1776, nearly five months before the Patriot Army until April 23, 1783, and was visited by George Washington and other Patriot Chiefs. It was re-opened in Campus Martius, Marietta, Ohio on June 28, 1790, by Jonathan Heart, WM, and was the first Lodge opened in the Northwest Territory. It was then re-chartered by the Grand Lodge of Ohio on January 5, 1816. General Rufus Putman, first Grand Master of Ohio, Governor Return Jonathan Meigs, Lewis Cass, and other eminent men were members of this Lodge. |
